YouTube Setup
Did you know that I filmed A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer WFH video with an iPhone SE2?
Your equipment is important but not as much as your content.
That doesn't mean you can ignore the essentials, however. You'll still need gears like a tripod, lights, and a microphone.
Start small. None of my tools cost more than $100 at the beginning of my YouTube journey; you can invest in better equipment as your channel grows.

Beginner
A tripod, lights, and microphone are essential for a YouTube channel. Make sure your fans can see and hear you well. Get insights on your channel performance with vidIQ. Think of these as initial investments for your YouTube journey. You can get all the gears listed here for less than $100 each. I highly recommend the tripod. It's inexpensive yet versatile, sturdy, and worth every dollar; I'm sure you'll like it.
Intermediate
Things start to get a little expensive here. Eventually, you'll want to upgrade your gear from a phone to an actual camera. The Sigma 24-70mm lens is a popular choice covering a wide range of angles. Rode VideoMic Pro+ is an excellent investment for superb audio. If you are thinking of making commentary videos like me, I strongly recommend a teleprompter + iPad setup.
